Dental Cleanings / Necessary Extractions
We brush our teeth at least once a day. Brushing removes the “gunk”, which is a biofilm of bacteria.
Over time, the bacteria bonds with minerals and hardens into plaque and tartar. With heavy tartar comes infection and bone loss.
This dog has considerable tartar with infection. Once the tartar is removed, the teeth will be loose and will need to be removed.
Our doctor has taken over 20 credit hours of continuing education to advance her knowledge in dentistry.
X-Rays
Every pet gets a complete set of dental x-rays. Sometimes what you see on the outside is different than what is going on underneath the gums. There can be abscesses or even resorptive lesions.
Dental Cleanings with Ultrasonic Scaler
When concrete-like tartar builds up, ultrasonic scaling is needed. We need to be able to clean under the gumline, where plaque starts. This requires full sedation.
Sedation-free dentals may leave underlying issues untreated, compromising your pet’s overall health.
